ZL1 Camaro Convertible

Chevy has announced the existence of the much anticipated convertible version of the 2012 ZL1 Camaro to be released as a 2013 ZL1 Camaro Convertible and will become available to customers in the fall of 2012. The convertible version of the fastest Camaro ever is due to be released for sale later this summer as the show stopping 2013 ZL1 Camaro Convertible. This rocketship of a sports car comes with the 580-horsepower, 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 and recently hit 170 miles per hour on a German test track. Pricing has yet to be confirmed but early estimates are for a starting price of $54,995, before any options are added.

ZL1 Camaro Convertible

Here is what we know so far. the 2013 ZL1 Camaro Convertible will be powered by the potent LSA V-8 found in the 2012 ZL1 Coupe. This supercharged package turns out a massive 580 horsepower and 556 lb-ft of torque.

A new road hugger suspension that is 1½ inches closer to the ground and an extra inch of rear width with about ¾ inch of extra front width that should make this baby really fun in the corners.

 

 

That extra width is handy to house the 285×20 front meats and 305×20 rears. True performance doesn't come cheap and Chevy is here to make it official by shipping the ZL1 Camaro Convertibles with performance rated Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires on all four corners.

According to Chevy, a significant amount of testing went into the new aerodynamics on the Camaro. An all new front splitter, rockers and diffuser were designed and tested to work as a system to balance down force and keep this rocket on the pavement.

HID, high-intensity discharge, headlamps with glowing LED halo rings add a custom look that sets the ZL1 Camaros apart.
